Hope you all had a great Christmas and had fun bringing in the New Year. We spent Christmas in sunny Barcelona and celebrated the new year in Ireland, then back in time for the 3 kings day which is such a huge celebration in Spain.
As always at this time of year we’ve been reflecting on the previous year. For us it was another amazing year and through Airbnb we grew a little more, with some mistakes we learned a little more and with the help of our guests made some wonderful friends from around the world.
For reservations its been a much busier year than the previous one. We believe this is down to us now managing our rates on a week to week basis. We have our high rates, low rates and festival/events rates. Now once every week we look 3 weeks ahead to make adjustments where needed to make sure we’re maximising our availability. It’s a bit of a hard process, but like anything once you get into a habit doing it, then it gets easier.
All in all we’ve had some great highs in 2014. One of the big ones was having our friend Noa come on board to help out with the check ins, emails and much much more! This was something we should have done a long time ago. It has now enabled us to have more time to make sure our apartments are up to our standards and that we are doing as much for our guests to make sure their stay is a great one. Without Noa we would not of being able to go home like we did for the new year. It was such a busy 6 days for Noa and she did an incredible job, and she did not feel well that week either so much appreciation and a big well done to Noa!
Of course, we have some lows. Unfortunately over the Christmas break we had the worst guests we’ve ever had. This was really tough to deal with during a time that there should be Christmas cheer and enjoyment!! I’ll write a post next week on what happened and how we and Airbnb worked to resolve it as much as we could. Again, it was another learning curve.
We are looking forward to 2015 and have some great ideas to bring to our little corner of the Airbnb world that we’ll be sharing with you. We’re looking forward to seeing what the year ahead brings us all. We believe it will only get better.
So Happy New Year to you all and thank you so much for your readership and support during 2014.
As ever if you have any questions or things you would like us to write about, just message us and we’d be happy to help in any way we can.
